Gratitude

Gratitude in the Middle of Stress

4 minDuring Stress

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Philippians 4:6

Reading

Beautiful Soul, take one slow breath in… and a longer breath out. Let your shoulders drop.

Gratitude is not a denial of stress. It is a doorway through it. You do not have to pretend the day is easy. You only have to notice one thing that is still good.

Maybe it is the fact that your body is doing its best. Maybe it is that someone in this world would be devastated to lose you. Maybe it is the quiet realization that you have survived every hard day before this one.

Right where you are — in the traffic, the inbox, the waiting room, the crowded kitchen — grace can meet you. You do not have to escape your life to find peace. Peace can visit you inside of it.

Reflection

What is one thing that has not fallen apart today?

Closing Prayer

Lord, in the middle of what is heavy, help me see what is still whole. Thank You for being near even when I feel stretched thin. Amen.
